Spring season

Softball programs deserve the same runway.

Softball programs frequently run on a thinner budget than the sport beside them on the calendar, with the same travel, the same equipment replacement cycle and the same tournament fees. A campaign built specifically around the softball roster, rather than folded into a general athletic-department appeal, gives the program a goal it controls and money that arrives where it was raised.

When to run it

Spring softball opens between late February and early April by state. Programs in colder states should plan the campaign for winter, not spring.

Why this sport is different

The specific things that shape a campaign here.

  • The program controls its own goal

Money raised by the softball roster goes to the softball program. That clarity is what gets families to take part in the first place.

  • Small roster, wide reach

A smaller roster is not a smaller campaign. Each player sharing a page reaches an entirely different set of people than a table outside a grocery store.

  • Tournament season is the deadline

Entry fees and travel dates are fixed well in advance. We build the campaign backward from those dates rather than guessing.

What we would suggest

A starting plan. The details change once we see your calendar and your roster.

  • Run the campaign in late winter, ahead of the first tournament payment
  • Name the goal after the thing it funds so supporters know what they are backing
  • Set a participation target the whole roster can hit, not a dollar target only a few can
  • Recruit two or three parents as campaign leads instead of running it through the coach
  • Recognize milestones at practice, in front of the team

Questions

Questions from these programs

Straight answers, including the ones without a comfortable number attached.

When is the best time in the season to fundraise?

Most groups do best starting shortly before their season begins, while attention is high and the schedule has not taken over yet. Season dates vary by sport and by state, so we plan the window around your actual calendar.

How does participant sharing work?

Each participant gets their own page on MoneyDolly to share with family and friends. Contributions made through that page count toward both their personal progress and the group total.

How much will we raise?

Nobody can honestly promise a number. What a campaign raises depends on your group size, participation rate, timing and community. What we can do is help you set a realistic goal and give your group the best possible shot at hitting it.

How much work is this for our coaches and volunteers?

The setup work is front-loaded and we do most of it with you. Once the campaign is live, the day-to-day is participants sharing their own pages rather than volunteers managing inventory, order forms or cash.
