Fall & winter

Camp, uniforms, competition. All of it, up front.

Cheer has the least forgiving cost structure of any program in the school: summer camp, uniforms, shoes, warm-ups, competition entries and travel — nearly all of it due before the first game, and much of it charged to families directly. A campaign that runs in late spring or early summer changes what those families pay out of pocket in August.

When to run it

Cheer spans the fall and winter seasons and typically requires camp payment in early summer, which puts the fundraising window earlier than almost any other program.

Why this sport is different

The specific things that shape a campaign here.

  • The bills come first

Camp and uniform deposits are due months before the season. Fundraising in September is fundraising after the fact.

  • It is a two-season program

Cheer works through football and basketball. One campaign can cover the whole commitment instead of two half-efforts.

  • Visibility is already there

The squad is in front of the community at every home event of two sports. Few programs start with that much built-in reach.

What we would suggest

A starting plan. The details change once we see your calendar and your roster.

  • Run the campaign in late spring, before camp payments are due
  • Set the goal against the actual per-athlete cost families are being asked to cover
  • Cover both the football and basketball commitments in one campaign
  • Use home events as milestone moments during the campaign
  • Give each athlete a personal target tied to their own program costs

Questions

Questions from these programs

Straight answers, including the ones without a comfortable number attached.

When is the best time in the season to fundraise?

Most groups do best starting shortly before their season begins, while attention is high and the schedule has not taken over yet. Season dates vary by sport and by state, so we plan the window around your actual calendar.

What does this cost?

Pricing and platform terms are set by MoneyDolly and confirmed with you before anything launches. We will not quote a number here that could be out of date by the time you read it — ask on the strategy call and you will get the current answer.

How does our group receive the money?

Funds raised come to your group through the MoneyDolly platform once the campaign is complete. Specific terms, timing and any applicable fees are set by MoneyDolly and are covered during setup.

How much work is this for our coaches and volunteers?

The setup work is front-loaded and we do most of it with you. Once the campaign is live, the day-to-day is participants sharing their own pages rather than volunteers managing inventory, order forms or cash.
