Spring season

Fund the field before opening day.

Baseball carries costs that other spring sports do not: field prep and maintenance, screens and nets, balls that disappear by the dozen, and a schedule that puts the team on the road most weeks. Much of it has to be paid before the first pitch, which is why the fundraising window sits in late winter rather than mid-season.

Season timing

When to run it

Spring practice generally opens between late February and early April depending on the state and the weather. Northern programs should start the campaign earlier than the national default suggests.

Why this sport is different

The specific things that shape a campaign here.

  • Costs land before revenue does

Field work and equipment are due in advance. A campaign that closes before the first game means the program is not fronting the money and hoping.

  • Multi-level programs share one goal

Varsity, JV and freshman rosters together make a participant pool large enough for a meaningful goal without leaning on the same twenty families.

  • Weather will not stop it

A rained-out car wash raises nothing. A digital campaign keeps running through the week the field is unplayable.

What we would suggest

A starting plan. The details change once we see your calendar and your roster.

  • Start in February, close before the season opener
  • Set the goal against a named project — mound work, netting, a new set of helmets
  • Include every level of the program in one campaign
  • Use the preseason parent meeting as the launch moment
  • Give a challenge to whichever level has the lowest participation, not the lowest dollars

Questions

Questions from these programs

Straight answers, including the ones without a comfortable number attached.

When is the best time in the season to fundraise?

Most groups do best starting shortly before their season begins, while attention is high and the schedule has not taken over yet. Season dates vary by sport and by state, so we plan the window around your actual calendar.

How does our group receive the money?

Funds raised come to your group through the MoneyDolly platform once the campaign is complete. Specific terms, timing and any applicable fees are set by MoneyDolly and are covered during setup.

Should we run donations, products, or both?

Donations are the fastest to set up and have nothing to distribute. Products give supporters something in return and feel familiar to families used to traditional fundraisers. Combining both lets each supporter choose. We will walk through which fits your group on the strategy call.

What happens if the campaign stalls?

That is exactly what we are here for. We watch participation and progress with you and suggest concrete adjustments — a challenge, a push to a specific group, a reminder at the right moment — rather than leaving you to figure it out alone.
